The official release of Firefox v1.5 has not been released, however, I have been able to test both the Beta 1 and Beta 2 and so far so… great!
I have been using Firefox since it was named Firebird way-back-when. The rendering is mainly the same (Gecko), but much of it has improved. With Firefox 1.5, it goes beyond what it has already accomplished (live bookmarks, tabs, toolbar bookmarks, built-in searchbar, highly customizable, fast rendering, popup blocking, no Active X, etc.) and has gone one step farther; even faster rendering and better auto-update.
At first I was skepticle. How could it become any faster than what it is? Isn’t it already using cache, etc. to its full advantage? The answer is, no it hasn’t. With this release of Firefox the rendering is noticably quicker, without relying totally on cache to do so. The rendering engine itself got a makeover and reportably took a page out of Opera’s book in doing so.
For anyone wanting to browse the web (you’re here aren’t you?), I highly recommend this product. It’s quicker, lightweight, customizable with many plugins, and most importantly (along with being absolutely free) you won’t get the spyware!
So please, do yourself a favor. Download Mozilla Firefox.
