Delicious is the single most popular bookmarking service on the web. The site has more than five million users and 150 million bookmarked URLs.
What is Delicious
Delicious is a free social bookmarking service that allows members to share, tag, and save their favorite webpages. It uses a non-hierarchical keyword categorization system.
Delicious also allows users to view recent websites added using a given tag. The homepage includes a “hotlist” which includes recent and popular pages.
Delicious Subscriptions
What are Delicious subscriptions?
Delicious subscriptions are tags you subscribe to. When viewing your subscriptions page you will see every bookmarked page using the tag. You may also bundle your tags or view only pages from a specific user.
Setting up a new subscription
View your delicious page (http://delicious.com/username). Click ’subscriptions’ at the top.
![]()
This is your subscription page. Once you subscribe to a tag you will see a list of recent bookmarks with the given tag allowing you to save or view each page.
On the upper right side of the subscription page, you will see a list of links:

To set up a new subscription, click ‘Add a subscription’. A small box will appear underneath, asking you to enter a tag with a check box saying ‘From a specific user’. If you wish to subscribe to a specific user’s tag, check the box and enter the username.
Press ’save.’
To edit a subscription
To edit a subscription, click ‘Subscription options’, then ‘Add or Edit your subscriptions’. You will be brought to a page titled ‘Manage Subscriptions’. Here, you can add a new subscription or edit a previous one.

At the bottom of the page is a list of your current subscriptions. By clicking ‘edit’ you can change your current subscription. By clicking ‘remove’, you will no longer subscribe to the tag.
Bundle your subscriptions
Do you have subscriptions which are similar to each other or rarely updated? Bundle them up! By bundling, you will see all the bundled tags on one page.
How to bundle
Go back to your subscription page and click ‘Subscription bundles’ on the right side (if you don’t see it, click ‘Subscription options’ first).
You are then brought to a page which allows you to edit your current bundles. If you don’t have any yet or want to create a new one, click ‘Create’.
Now, you are brought to a page which allows you to bundle your subscriptions.

Simply select the tags you wish to group and choose a name for the bundle. By checking ‘Highlight subscriptions already in bundles’ you can see which tag is already grouped with a different bundle.
Click ‘Save’.
In conclusion
Well there you have it, Delicious subscriptions ready to roll. You may need to do some testing before finding tags worthy of a subscription, but now you can easily see what is hot and recent on the interweb.

I’ve never really gotten the point to bookmarking…are you doing it for yourself or for others to read?

@Dennis that is for you to decide. For me, it is both depending on the article. I save things with Delicious so when I am at a different computer and I can read them, but I also save articles to send to others. There is an inbox specifically for sending and receiving articles.
