WP Plugin: Random Ads

This plugin is pretty simple. If you are selling several ads and want each to have the same amount of visibility while still displaying all the ads (like the top right images in my sidebar), this is what you want.

Just download the plugin, go to Option/Random Ads within your wp-admin and enter your ad code (be sure to separate each with <!–– End Ad ––>)

Installation

  1. Download the latest version (link is above).
  2. Unzip the file into your plugins folder (wp-content/plugins). Be sure to leave all files within the random-ads folder.
  3. Go to your wp-admin Plugins and activate it.
  4. Head over to Options/Random Ads in wp-admin. Add the ad code you wish to display separated by <!–– End Ad ––>.
  5. Press “Update Code” when you are finished.
  6. optional: Link to impNERD.com to show your support.

    I guess one use scenario for this could be that you could simply use it to rearrange your ads. That might cause readers to pay more attention to ads, since the ad space might look little bit different each time, when they visit your site.
    At this point, I don’t have anything advertisements to really benefit from this, but its nice thing to know that tools already exist, if it ever comes a problem.

      Definitely a good point. Honestly since I made this plugin and started using it on my own site click-throughs on the ads have gone up, most likely due to stopping ‘banner blindness’ as you stated.

    Hi, Does your plugin avoid repetitions? All the plugins I’ve tried, do not check if the ad is already showing and I get duplicated ads. I would like to be able to
    show 10 different ads on my sidebar (randomly selected and ordered from my total 20 ads).

      Currently if you put in 20 ads, it will show 20 ads. The only thing the plugin does is show them in a random order. I will keep in mind though your suggestion and in the future it will be added.

      Which defeats the purpose. All your little code does is randomly select text to display.

      The random ads feature does not replace an ad, but simply randomizes its placement.

    Thanks for the info. I wasn’t expecting that but I guess I need to install it to see how it really works. It should work with 2.6, shouldn’t it?

    It should work on anything from 2.0-2.6
