Over the past few years social voting sites have come to the forefront. Digg, Reddit and StumbleUpon have became a place to read the latest news and happenings around the world.
With large social sites, it is common for many unknown websites to be overlooked for larger, more trusted sources. And depending on the time of day and uniqueness of the submission, the page may be left to drown in the millions of pages submitted.
What is BloggingZoom?
BloggingZoom is a different type of social voting. Although the general purpose remains the same, BloggingZoom offers a unique perspective into the blogging world.
From BloggingZoom’s About:
Blogging Zoom is a place where bloggers can share content that they and other bloggers have written. Blogging Zoom is the perfect place to go for people that are tired of the mainstream media and content. The users of Blogging Zoom determine which content is valuable and which content isn’t. ‘Zooming’ or voting positively for a post or article will give it more exposure and with enough Zooms, your content will hit the front page to be showcased to the masses.
How it works
BloggingZoom works the same way other social voting sites work. After a page is submitted, it goes into the voting process. Once a page is seen as popular it is moved to the frontpage and is considered “Published”.
On BloggingZoom, a page must receive 15 votes before it becomes published. The amount of time between submission and published is not important. The submission stays popular until other submissions push it off.
Does BloggingZoom work?
In most cases, yes. But it also depends on what you want out of the service. If you are looking for a way to receive tens-of-thousands of visitors by getting to the frontpage, you better go back to Digg or Reddit. However, if you are looking for a simple way to increase traffic, BloggingZoom is the right place.

Traffic directly from BloggingZoom after being frontpaged for a week: 20 unique visitors.
Why the low direct traffic isn’t important
The amount of direct traffic from BloggingZoom means nothing, at least in this instance. Why? Well there are two reasons.
- I used the same title from the article on my website.
- Traffic was much larger indirectly as a result of BloggingZoom.
1) BloggingZoom ranks high in search engines. Because of this, an article submission to the service automatically receives a high placement for its title within search engines. If you use the same title, it will be stuck below the original article. However, if you use a unique title with a unique description, the BloggingZoom article will rank well for that particular keyword phrase.
2) Since BloggingZoom is used by fellow bloggers, you know they are social media freaks. After the page became popular, a large amount of Stumbles came out of nowhere, or so I thought. The page was actually stumbled by fellow BloggingZoom members which resulted in several thousand pageviews.
BloggingZoom uses nofollow
If you’ve taken a look at BloggingZoom’s pages, by now you know they use the nofollow attribute. This means, if you are simply looking for a way to increase your link juice, you simply aren’t doing it right. BloggingZoom is not a way to increase your link juice directly. However, BloggingZoom is a gateway to linkjuice.
How is it a gateway to linkjuice? As mentioned earlier, BloggingZoom is primarily used by bloggers. If a blogger sees the page as interesting or groundbreaking, they will link to it, stumble it, and possibly digg it.
What type of site works well with BloggingZoom?
The majority of website submissions come from sites about blogging or SEO. However, other types of sites are welcome. Like other social media, entertainment and news related sites work particularly well, including sports.
Short and Sweet
Looking for a list of reasons why to use it?
- BloggingZoom shows up in search engines, users click through to your site.
- BloggingZoom members use StumbleUpon, they’l stumble your page if they like it.
- It helps with internet branding.
- Any amount of traffic helps small websites.
- BloggingZoom is a community for bloggers. If they like your page, they might link to it.
If you write an interesting or newsworthy post, submit it to BloggingZoom. You’ll need to write a 350 word description and a unique title. But you have nothing to lose and only visitors to gain.

Why You Should Use BloggingZoom…
Although BloggingZoom currently doesn’t offer the same traffic Digg or Reddit does, the service is just as valuable to bloggers. Since BloggingZoom members are largely bloggers, their influence around the web is higher than other social media websites…

I have been using BloggingZoom for quiet sometimes now and what I like about it is that it focuses more on blogging-related articles than any other social sites and yes, the dofollow is a nice bonus.
