This is the fifth article in the series “Santa’s SEM“.
How he teaches this: Santa knows everything about us, yet he still asks what we want for Christmas.
Many site owners think they know what their visitors want—and I don’t mean a their toy store selling toys. What I mean is, the type of toy. You may have the general idea. But what color will do your visitors want? How big do they want it? These are questions you need to ask.
Of course a website is yours. But, it is also your visitors. Without the visitors your website is nothing but wasted space on a harddrive collecting web dust. So we must cator to them. Ask the visitors what is it that they want to see. Do they want more of content A or would they like to see more of content B?
One way of asking is by looking at stats. What pages have the most views? What pages have the most comment/page views? And most important, what pages collected the most RSS subscriptions or garnered the most sales?
At the end of the day we still might not know the exact answer. So, I would like to ask all the readers of impNERD.com, what is it that YOU want to see in the future on this blog?

In the spirit of weblogging, I think doing link-love is something I want to see more. People are starting to do this and they should keep this up. Daily review/link-love posts will be superb.
Hey Gary, sorry it’s been a while. I guess I would really like to see a new logo. In your header, your logo is barely big enough to notice. Maybe consider resizing it so it has a more “stand-out-ish” feel to it so people get impnerd embeded in their mind.
The only other irk I have with your site is the RSS and technorati things pokin out at the top. I don’t really know how to describe it other than I think they are too “pastel like” and you should shoot for a more “glass like” icon. But thats just a personal thing.
Thanks for the suggestions. At first, I wanted to do a big logo, but had no clue what to do with everything else. I want the content to be as far north as possible, and with a big logo I just didn’t think it was going to happen. I’ll try to come up with something though.
Great article and I will also be looking at my stats later tonight.
Also good luck in the endeavour that the two of us share.
