As always, Jennifer Slegg is first to announce the new contextual program that is MSN ads. The ads can be seen plainly on the frontpage of Digg.com
Here’s a screenshot of the new contextual ads

As you can see, the ad targeting is about the same as YPN (bada-bing!). Mortgage ads with nothing about mortgage around, clever MSN. Of course, there is the slight, ever so slight, chance that Digg chose to show the mortgage ads… nah, I’m not going to give Microsoft the benefit of the doubt.
Here’s the snippets of the code
Within the header
<script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://Ads1.msn.com/library/dap.js”></script>
Within the content
<script type=”text/javascript”>
dapMgr.enableACB(”hottest_ad_msft”, false);
dapMgr.renderAd(”hottest_ad_msft”, “&PG=DIG16B&SEG=90&AP=1090″, 160, 600);
</script >
Jennifer Slegg states that Facebook is also showing the new ads, although I can’t confirm this.
If you are wondering when you can show the ads, the answer is “probably not for a while”. Of course, if you have a website with as many visitors as Facebook or Digg, send them an email and you may get lucky. Otherwise, just wait until they enter a more opened Beta. There isn’t a point in joining right now anyway with the targeting be as crappy as it is.
