What Santa Claus Teaches Us about Search Engine Marketing

Santa Claus is the best marketer in the world. Why? Because everyone loves Santa. He gives presents, makes everyone happy, then slips away into the night all while leaving a lasting impression.

The good news is, we can learn from his success and use it to our own advantage. Here’s a list of 5 truths I have learned from Santa Claus.

  1. You can rank on competitive words by just doing it better.
How he teaches this: Santa Claus flies around with reindeer pulling his sleigh giving presents to children around the world, all on Jesus’ birthday.
  2. Promote your product throughout the year, not just the holidays
How he teaches this: Children are reminded throughout the year to be good, and if they aren’t, no presents.
    Santa Claus
  3. Practice makes perfect
How he teaches this: The image of Santa Claus has changed a lot throughout the years. Rudolph wasn’t even created until 1939, but has lead the airwaves in Christmas songs ever since.
  4. Know your audience
How he teaches this: Santa doesn’t have just anyone sit on his lap, he has kids do it. Why? Because he knows kids are the way to keep in business, and not many adults want toys.
  5. It doesn’t hurt to ask
How he teaches this: Santa knows everything about us, yet he still asks what we want for Christmas.

Summary
The best ideas can be learned from those most successful. The greatest accomplishments in business history have been achieved by following these same rules.
